Traditional Uses:
It is a rejuvenating, diuretic herb that may clear toxins and strengthen the immune system. It may be considered “Food for the Brain”. Of assistance in the treatment of rheumatism and rheumatoid arthritis. Can be used to assist treat depression, insanity, mental function, nervous disorders, amnesia, and senility. May help with bowel disorders, convulsions, elephantiasis, epilepsy, fever, hypochondria, psoriasis, and tetanus. Can be useful in the treatment of phlebitis, leg cramps and abnormal tingling of the extremities. It also assists in the treatment of common colds, sore throats, tonsillitis, peptic ulcers, constipation, fevers, fibrocystic breasts, lupus, anal fissures, and cirrhosis of the liver, periodontal conditions, tuberculosis, and measles. Spider veins, varicose veins, phlebitis, and ulcerative conditions of the legs.
Dosage:
Infusion: pour 150ml of boiling water over 1-2 teaspoons of herb. Allow to stand for 10 – 15min. Strain and drink three times per day.
Warnings:
If taken in large amounts it can cause itching, headaches, and unconsciousness. Do not use with other tranquillizers or sedatives. Do not use if you have an overactive thyroid. It can cause depression in well-adjusted individuals. Do not use if pregnant or lactating. Consult with a medical practitioner before use
